Ginger has been cultivated for thousands of years in China and India.

It was written about in many ancient Chinese herbal texts and is an ingredient in as many as half of all Chinese herbal combinations.

The Chinese use it to buffer the effects of stronger herbs, and they drink it widely in tea.

Ginger nutritionally supports the digestive process and has the ability to help settle the stomach. Studies show ginger is as effective as over-the-counter medications in helping to prevent motion sickness.

Ginger may be used as a stimulant of the peripheral circulation in cases of bad circulation, chills and cramps. In India, and in other countries with hot and humid climates, ginger is eaten daily and is a well-known remedy for digestion problems.

Its wide-spread use is not only be due to flavor, but to the anti-oxidant and anti-microbial effects, necessary for preservation of food, essential in such climates.
